Vacations are not for Sinner: back on the field, what a rush

by Mike

Sinner doesn’t want to miss a single moment: he couldn’t resist the temptation.

In the aftermath of the Italian team’s second consecutive triumph in the Davis Cup, Jannik Sinner finally allowed himself a few days off. Not too many, mind you: the world number 1 has no time to waste, with the 2025 season looming and so many successes that, one way or another, he will have to be able to confirm in the year to come.

With the team competition over, he flew to Monte Carlo, where he resides, to relax a bit. After that, so it seems, he flew to Miami. He was not interested in enjoying the sea and the sun – come on, he still comes from the mountains – but the fact is that, in Florida, there is someone who is particularly close to his heart. It’s Anna Kalinskaya, who in theory is his fiancée, but in practice could be his ex, for all we know, at least judging from the clues the two have been planting in recent weeks.

Already today, however, the San Candido champion had to return to Italy: tonight is the Fitp gala and it goes without saying that, at the end of such an extraordinary year, he will be the undisputed star of the evening. Having also dealt with this “practice” it will then be time for the king of the Atp ranking to leave for Dubai. There he will play the off season before returning home, scheduled for Christmas Day, to the mountains of Trentino Alto Adige.

Last-minute decision for Sinner: he will be there

Having said goodbye to friends and family, finally, it will be time for the Australian trip, which last year, as he will no doubt remember, gave him the greatest joy: his first Slam title.

Sinner decided not to participate in the first tournaments on the calendar, but to make his debut directly in his own kingdom, namely at the Australian Open, which in 2025 will be played from January 12 to 26. He must have been in a bit of a hurry, however, given that, almost at the photo finish, he decided to accept the invitation that arrived at his address in recent hours.

Jannik will take part in a special charity event, organized by the Happy Slam, to be held in the days immediately preceding the start of the Slam in the land of kangaroos. It will be played between January 7 and 10, again at Rod Laver Arena, and at the starting line-up will be, in addition to the world number 1, two other stars of world tennis, namely Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. We will see some good things, then, even before the 2025 season officially gets into full swing.
