Uruguay-Bolivia is a match valid for the second day of the group stage of the Copa America and is played Friday at 03:00 (Italian time): statistics, probable formations, predictions.
A Uruguay in perfect “Bielsa style” managed to grab the first three points despite a few too many thrills. The match with Panama, in fact, remained in the balance until five minutes from the end, that is, until the doubling goal scored by Liverpool center forward Nunez, which made the experienced Argentine coach, who has been at the helm of the two-time world champion national team for just over a year, breathe a sigh of relief.
Constantly aggressive attitude and as many as 20 total shots toward Mosquera’s goal were not enough to treat themselves to a second half of utmost tranquility after the lead sealed by Maximiliano Araujo in the 16th minute of the first half. After the goal of the Reds’ striker, by far one of the most anticipated men, the Celeste sealed another one in the middle of the second half with former Roma player Vina, only to cash in on the so-called flagship goal (Murillo). Mission accomplished, then: it was crucial to start on the right foot to prevent the host U.S. from taking the lone first place in Group C, a group in which first two slots seem to be, in fact, already assigned. However, to remain on full points and play it all in the Kansas City clash, Uruguay must also file Bolivia.
The Green, coached by Brazilian Zago – a former defender with an important past in Roma at the turn of the 1990s and 00s – in the opener was forced to chase the U.S., which took the lead after 3′ with a eurogoal by Milan player Pulisic, who is increasingly decisive. Late in the first half, the Bolivians then cashed in on Balogun’s double (2-0), and if the gap was not wider, it was only thanks to their goalkeeper Viscarra.
The prediction
Uruguay may have it even easier than the challenge with Panama. Since 2015 Bolivia has won on only one occasion over the Celeste (2021) but at home the Green often manages to subvert predictions due to the fact that they play above 3000 meters. We expect a clear victory by Bielsa’s men, who are likely to score two to four goals.
