Tuesday, Sept. 5 predictions: in England scorched with matches in the EFL Trophy, a competition involving League One and Two clubs.

Waiting for the upcoming commitments of the national teams, England is kicking off with the group stage of the EFL Trophy, a competition involving all clubs from League One and League Two – the third and fourth tiers of the English soccer system – as well as sixteen Under-21 teams from Premier League clubs.

The last edition was won by Bolton, which will make its debut today against Salford, a club playing in League Two. The Trotters as in last season will try to win promotion to the Championship, last May escaped in the playoffs. In the league, Bolton is off to a great start, is first in the standings along with three other teams and should debut with a win in the EFL Trophy as well, starting their title defense on the right foot. Victory is within reach for Wrexham as well, engaged against Newcastle’s Under-21 side. On the other hand, the match involving Wimbledon, which a week ago made Chelsea sweat in the League Cup: at least one goal per side is expected in the challenge with Stevenage. For those on the hunt for goals there is the Danish domestic cup: the match between Skjold Birkerod and Vanlose is expected to be eventful.
