Tuesday, Sept. 3 EFL Trophy predictions.

by Mike

Tuesday’s predictions for Tuesday, Sept. 3, as we await national team matches in England, the EFL Trophy is being played.

The English Football League Trophy, currently known as the Bristol Street Motors Trophy for sponsorship reasons, is an annual soccer competition open to all English clubs in League One and League Two, with the addition of 16 under-21 teams from the Premier League and Championship.

This competition experiences its shining moments a couple of times a season, when all European soccer comes to a halt for the national team break. Among the teams that are candidates for victory tonight is Birmingham, a League One team that has spent a lot to equip its squad for the leap up the ladder and equipped with a large enough squad to have a say in this competition as well. With Walsall, beaten in a friendly at the end of July, victory is likely. And there should be no shortage of goals, given the statistics of the two teams this early in the season.

The predictions on the other matches

League Two team Bromley can at least avoid defeat in their home challenge against a League One team, Cambridge United, which has made a poor start to the season and is still out of goals on the road. Victory likely for Exeter against Swindon, which is still winless in its first four days in League Two.

Among the over games, watch out for Lincoln-Chesterfield. As many as 17 goals have been scored in Lincoln’s five games so far, as many as 11 in the three played at home. Barrow is off to a great start in League Two and has the makings of a surprise for disappointing Bolton in a game with goals.

At least one goal per team likely as well in Doncaster-Huddersfield, teams that have started the season well, with Huddersfield also having a good away offensive performance.
