Tottenham-Chelsea is a match valid for the twenty-fifth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 14:30: TV, formations, predictions.
On a Sunday when the Premier League is somewhat “overshadowed” by the League Cup final scheduled at Wembley between Newcastle and Manchester United, an interesting London cross between Tottenham and Chelsea, two big names of the English top league who are certainly not bursting with health, is nevertheless on stage. Far from it.
The Blues are certainly the worse off of the two, having capitulated on the last day against bottom-of-the-table Southampton (0-1) in front of a Stamford Bridge public increasingly astonished and unable to identify the reasons behind this long-lasting crisis. Despite the more than 300 million euros lavished by the ownership to strengthen the squad in the January market, Graham Potter’s team continues to struggle tremendously, mainly from an offensive point of view. In 2023, Chelsea won just one game, beating Crystal Palace by a narrow 1-0. Then almost exclusively disappointing results, in which the first thing that stands out is the poor goal-scoring capacity of a collective that has not scored more than one goal in the same game since December. Potter seems to enjoy the trust of the club, but should the situation worsen even the management might start asking themselves two questions.
Last call for the Blues
Fact is that the Blues find themselves mired in tenth place, within striking distance of the Champions League zone. And with eleven points to make up on Tottenham, the team currently in fourth place.
Emerson Royal
Spurs have played one more game than Chelsea and come from a 2-0 success in another derby, the one with West Ham. Without Antonio Conte on the bench – the Salento coach was forced to stop due to the aftermath of his gall bladder operation – Kane and his team-mates turned over a new leaf after the Champions League round of 16 defeat to AC Milan, securing their second home win. The most recent record, however, says Chelsea: the Blues have won all three games played at Tottenham’s new stadium and are unbeaten in their last eight.
The Prediction
Retaining away from the final result, clashing two totally unpredictable teams, it’s conceivable a tight derby, in which both Tottenham and Chelsea will score on at least one occasion. The total number of goals, however, will most likely be less than four. Spurs should be able to avoid defeat.
