Tottenham-Brentford, Premier League: odds, predictions.

by Thorsten

Tottenham-Brentford is a match valid for the thirty-seventh day of the Premier League and is played Saturday at 1:30 pm: TV, predictions.

In this London derby, Ryan Mason’s Tottenham are ready to play their last chances to clinch Europa League qualification.

An accomplishment that would surely make a season that began with high expectations but in the end was almost completely unfulfilled less bad. The Spurs, long in the running for fourth place, dropped dramatically in the second half of the tournament. The shock did not come even after the departure of Antonio Conte, who left the club last March. Today on the North London club’s bench sits the same ferryman who two seasons ago was enlisted by ownership to lead the team to the end of the season after the failure of the Mourinho management. Several names are being floated about who could be Tottenham’s new coach in the 2023-24 season, and all signs seem to point to Dutchman Arne Slot, current Feyenoord coach.

Spurs, mission sixth place

Kane and co. still run the risk of being left out of everything, we said. They are seventh but can still reach sixth place, currently occupied by Brighton.

The Seagulls in the week lost the rematch with Newcastle but compared to the Spurs they still have one game less. The standings say Brighton 58 and Tottenham 57. But paired with the Londoners is also Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, who just a week ago won their direct clash (2-1). It was the third defeat in a row for Tottenham away, a real Achilles’ heel for Mason’s men this year. The Birmingham match also confirmed the defensive frailties of Spurs, which only on one occasion have kept their goal unbroken in their last 11 matches. In front of their own home crowd the matter changes, and making the home factor count will be important against a Brentford side that has never beaten the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium since returning to the top flight. The Bees, fresh off three wins in the last four rounds, are not yet completely out of the race for Europe. In fact, with a win and a concurrent defeat by Aston Villa, they would remain resoundingly still in the game.

The prediction

Brentford in the week was joined by the news of the very heavy disqualification (eight months) imposed on its gunner Toney, but it is unlikely to affect the morale of Frank’s men. In our opinion the Bees will play it out, putting Spurs, who appeared to be in great difficulty in the non-possession phase, in trouble several times. And it is not out of the question that they will manage to avoid defeat in a contest of more than two goals total.

The likely lineups for Tottenham-Brentford

  • TOTTENHAM (3-4-2-1): Forster; Romero, Dier, Lenglet; Pedro Porro, Hojbjerg, Skipp, Davies; Kulusevski, Son; Kane.
  • BRENTFORD (3-5-2): Raya; Zanka, Mee, Pinnock; Hickey, Onyeka, Jensen, Janelt, Henry; Mbeumo, Wissa.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
