Tottenham-Arsenal, Premier League: likely formations, predictions.

by Thorsten

Tottenham-Arsenal is a match valid for the thirty-fifth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 3 p.m.: live TV, probable formations, predictions.

For prestige, but especially for the standings. The North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham is never just another match, given the historic rivalry that exists between the two fans, but it takes on even more significance when something really important is at stake.

Arsenal is playing for the title with Manchester City and Liverpool, although the Reds are in free fall-they did not go beyond a draw with West Ham in Saturday’s early fixture-and are slowly fading. The only antagonists to the defending champions at this point seem to be the Gunners, who are currently at +1 but have also played one more match than Pep Guardiola’s team. This means that if they want to stay in the race to the last and thus try to return to the roof of Europe after exactly 20 years, they absolutely cannot commit any missteps in the remaining days. After their elimination from the Champions League by way of Bayern Munich, meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s men immediately started winning again, scoring 7 goals in total between Wolverhampton and Chelsea, beaten 2-0 and 5-0 respectively: impressive was the performance they offered on Tuesday in the derby with the Blues, annihilated at Emirates Stadium.

Heavy points up for grabs

Spurs have a great opportunity to trip their hated cousins, which for their fans would already be half a win, but they too have a lot at stake.

Tottenham is dueling with Aston Villa for the fourth spot, the last one valid to participate in the 2024-25 Champions League. While waiting to find out whether the Premier League will also qualify fifth – everything will depend on the Uefa ranking at the end of the season – Ange Postecoglou’s men must do everything to catch up with the Villans: the Birmigham club is six points ahead but the Londoners have two games to make up. The fact is that Son and co. are not shining in terms of continuity: in the last match they were literally overwhelmed at home by Newcastle (4-0). Postecoglou has lost Udogie – season over for the former Udinese man – and may have to do without Pedro Porro as well. In compensation, however, Richarlison returns. On the other side, however, Arteta should reintroduce the eleven that buried Chelsea with goals.

The Prediction

A derby that is worth a lot. And on which, as every time, other dynamics will also influence. Who is definitely better off between the two is Arsenal but watch out for Spurs’ pride. There should certainly be no shortage of goals, if we take into account the fact that Spurs have scored in every home match this year and, at the same time, have only once kept their goal unbeaten in the last 15 games.

The likely lineups for Tottenham-Arsenal

TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Pedro Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Davies; Hojbjerg, Bissouma; Kulusevski, Maddison, Son; Richarlison.
ARSENAL (4-3-3): Raya; White, Gabriel, Saliba, Tomiyasu; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Havertz, Trossard.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
