Switzerland-Germany, Euro 2024: free-to-air TV, streaming, likely lineups, predictions

by Mark

Switzerland-Germany is a match valid for the third day of the group stage of Euro 2024 and is played on Sunday at 9 p.m.: statistics, probable formations, predictions, live TV and streaming.

The third and final day of the group stage of Euro 2024 begins, and opening the dances are always the hosts Germany, already qualified for the round of 16 with one round in advance. In Group A, the situation is actually well established by now, as Switzerland, the Mannschaft’s next opponent, is also a foot and a half into the knockout stage. The Helvetians have collected four points so far: victory against Hungary in the opener (3-1) and a draw with Scotland (1-1).

The only ones, in theory, who can still catch up with Murat Yakin’s men are the Scots: in the event of a tied finish on points, however, the British would most likely come out on top due to a (currently) significantly worse goal difference than Switzerland (+2 and -4) . Scotland, in fact, is paying for the heavy defeat it suffered in its opening match with the Germans, who scrambled it 5-1 in Munich. No dramas, then, even should they lose to Julian Nagelsmann’s selection. His Germany is perhaps the most convincing so far, along with Spain. And it has done so in just about every respect, on the level of play and athleticism. Awaiting more probing tests, Neuer and his teammates are enjoying first place in the group, dragged along by Bayern Munich talent Musiala, who also scored against Hungary last Wednesday (2-0) and was publicly praised by the coach. The field factor, then, is making the difference: those who had “snubbed” Germany before the tournament are gradually reconsidering.

The latest lineup news

Nagelsmann has hinted that he will rest someone against Switzerland but it will not be a “total” turnover for the former Bayern Munich coach. In the attack Fullkrug should take Havertz’s place, on the three-quarter instead Musiala, Gundogan and Wirtz, now irreplaceable, will always act. The other change will concern the midfield, where one between Gross and Emre Can will take over from Andrich and flank the stainless Kroos.

On the other side, Yakin’s only doubt concerns the rearguard, where the presence of Schar, struggling with a fractured nose, is in doubt. The defender, however, played without problems with Scotland and should do so again in Frankfurt. In front, the Swiss coach will most likely reintroduce the “light” attack, formed by Vargas and Ndoye, supported by the eternal Shaqiri, author of the 1-1 goal against Scotland.

The prediction

With Germany already qualified and Switzerland now one step away from the goal, it could come out an entertaining match, in which the Helvetians, having (almost) nothing to lose, will try to play it straight. The Germans remain, in any case, favorites despite a few changes in the lineup: the Mannschaft – beaten only once in their last 21 previous meetings with Switzerland – does not give the impression of wanting to lower the engine revs after two more than convincing performances. Both should score on at least one occasion.
