Southampton-Arsenal and Wolverhampton-Leicester, Premier League: predictions

by Michael

SOUTHAMPTON – ARSENAL | Sunday 3pm

Arsenal are deservedly top of the Premier League table this weekend and will have the difficult task of keeping the gap intact on their pursuers Manchester City, who easily defeated De Zerbi’s Brighton in Saturday’s match. Twenty-four hours later, the Gunners will visit Southampton, a team that is currently entangled in the fight for relegation but should always be taken with caution. The Londoners did not take to the pitch in the midweek session because they were engaged in the Europa League rematch with Psv Eindhoven. With the Dutch side came their third consecutive 1-0 win after those against Bodo/Glimt and Leeds. Captain Xhaka’s goal allowed Mikel Arteta to secure top spot and snatch qualification for the round of 16.

An Arsenal side that has become accustomed to winning on the short side will be up against a Saints side that has just beaten Bournemouth by the same scoreline in a tricky salvation clash. Adams’ goal in the first ten minutes was decisive.

The Prediction

Arsenal are especially strong away, where they have won four out of five so far and only conceded three goals. Another victory for the Gunners, who have also appeared very solid, is likely in a match with at least two goals overall.
