There is no peace for Sinner: message in the storm.
On the fact that he won everything, there’s no question. That is an objective truth. Jannik Sinner has won 73 of 79 matches played this year, taking home two Slams, three Masters 1000s, the title of master among masters and various other awards. Not to mention that he was instrumental in ensuring that the Italian national team also brought home a second consecutive Davis Cup.
Rationally, in short, no one has done better than him over the course of this season. Which explains why interest in his exploits has risen further and why, above all, the South Tyrolean champion has supporters and admirers in every corner of the globe. And it did not surprise us at all, in light of this, that for the second year in a row the Association of Tennis players awarded him the title of Fan’s favorite. For he is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most beloved player among tennis fans, for all the reasons we have previously listed.
Yet, not everyone would seem convinced that it was a good idea to bestow this prestigious award on him. This is because, as is well known, net of all the successes he has collected, 2024 was also the year in which Sinner received the heaviest beating: the doping charge that, even today, while waiting for Wada to rule, hangs over him.
Tweet against Sinner enrages fans
Various tennis players have already spoken out, over the months, against him, pointing out that many other players, in the past, have paid for this accusation and that it would not be fair, therefore, to exonerate Jannik just because he is the world No. 1. And Nick Kyrgios is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most vocal
Jannik Sinner fue elegido, para sorpresa de nadie, como ‘Jugador favorito para los aficionados’ por sus votos.
El dobles favorito también lo ganó una pareja italiana.

– José Morón (@jmgmoron) December 11, 2024
To stir up the haters, however, José Morón, who runs Punto de Break, a Spanish tennis-themed website, has also done so in recent hours. His venomous tweet wreaked havoc: “Jannik Sinner has been chosen, without surprise, as the favorite player of the fans through their votes,” he wrote on X, “A success that also follows that of the doubles. I imagine the Italian dome of the ATP will be very happy,” he added, referring to Atp President Andrea Gaudenzi and Ceo Massimo Calvelli.
So many users rushed to Sinner’s defense and lashed out at Morón’s – not even too subtle – irony, speaking out in favor of the title given to Jannik and pointing out that no one, more than him, deserved to be elected Fan’s favorite.
