Those on Jannik Sinner’s account are just conjectures, things are not really like that: justice is done, that’s the truth.
There are those who think that the fact that his number one opponent won his fourth Slam did not benefit either his game or his mind. And then there are those who, on the other hand, are absolutely certain that this rivalry is as good for one as it is for the other. For after all, it is precisely on competition that champions or would-be champions feed.
Diego Nargiso, a former tennis player, disagrees with those who think Jannik Sinner has suffered yet another affirmation from Carlos Alcaraz. The Iberian has been at his best so far this year at the Slam level. He won two: first Roland Garros, then, for the second time in a row, he won at the All England Club, confirming that he is, at the moment, the new undisputed king of Wimbledon. He then came close to Olympic gold, but a more “hungry” Novak Djokovic managed to take away from him a dream that he can still achieve, someday, having him a long career ahead of him.
All this, many say, may have upset Jannik, who numerically, in terms of Slams, is behind the Iberian. However, we pointed out earlier, Nargiso does not think so. In fact, at the microphones of Libero Quotidiano, he expounded an extremely interesting point of view on the affair in question.
Sinner like Federer and Nadal: Nargiso’s word
First he spent a few words on the fact that the Italian player renounced the Olympics, breaking a lance in his favor. “We know Jannik well,” he said, ‘some of his choices may seem unpopular, but if he did not go to Paris, it is because he was obviously not well. ’
“We are talking about a 23-year-old guy who has already won a Slam, 1000s and a Davis Cup and has been number one in the world for ten weeks,” added the former tennis player, who is clearly an “admirer” of our Sinner. After that, the talk shifted to whether Jannik is affected by Carlos’s success, and it was at that moment that he launched into a very lucid and very rational examination.
“I have also asked myself this question, and in my opinion it will not be so. I think he will do as Federer and Nadal have done and that is he will derive more motivation to improve, throughout their careers both of them have emphasized that.” A Sinner who does not look at others’ success, then, but treasures it to become stronger and more unchallenged.
