Sinner, knock on wood: there’s something for everyone

by Thorsten

Sinner, the unexpected anecdote says it all: that’s just the way he is.

Is it ever possible that in addition to being a player of boundless talent, he is also a guy who is almost perfect in every way? The answer is yes. And after all, that is what makes him a champion with a capital “C,” an unquestionably unique character. As well as an indissoluble reference point for those who are inspired by him nowadays.

Everyone who has known Jannik Sinner, on the field or in any other circumstance, has had nothing but good words to say about him. They like that he has remained pure, humble, and genuine, and that success has not gone to his head, despite the countless accomplishments he has achieved over the course of his, still short and just getting off the ground, career. And he likes that he is so affable even behind the scenes, an aspect that so many of his colleagues have been quick to remark on when talking about the world’s No. 1.

Blue, in short, never ceases to amaze us. Every day there is a good reason to talk about him, an anecdote worth telling because it is representative of the way he is and how he approaches life. And one of the latest anecdotes mentioned above comes, precisely, from a close friend of Sinner’s, a tennis player who has done very well this year and has climbed the rankings at lightning speed, moreover in a completely unexpected way.

Sinner never backs down: a multitasking champion

The athlete in question is the new world number 15, Jack Draper, who won two titles during 2024: one in Stuttgart, the other in Vienna, as well as hitting, resulting in the “consecration” of his status as a top player on the rise, the semifinals of the Us Open.

We knew beforehand that he and Jannik are very close, but the confirmation came the moment the Briton confessed, just in the past few hours, that he received Sinner’s help in a very “delicate” moment. The Blue, however, did not rescue him on the court, as you might think, but at the stove.

“I didn’t know how to cook anything,” Draper revealed to Ubitennis, ”He is Italian, so I thought he knew how to make pasta. I should have just asked my mother, but I didn’t. She cooked me a good pasta and taught me how to make it.” You can tell him anything, in short, but not that he is bitter. Least of all when it comes to dispensing “tasty” advice.
