Sinner, the die is cast and it’s already decided: all that’s missing is the officiality, but it’s clear that this is how it’s going to end.
That between Francesca Schiavone and the red earth has been a great, great, love. A passion that was mostly consumed at Roland Garros, in whose setting the Milanese tennis player even won once, back in 20210, but that has not yet died down. It has caused it to converge, rather, in an ambitious and very interesting project: the Schiavone team Lab.
A laboratory, rather than an academy as an end in itself, where the aspiring champions of the future will grow on a technical-tactical level, but also on a human level. Because the Lombard champion is convinced that one goes nowhere without values, those same values that she hopes her students will acquire in the “family” she has set up for them. The intention, then, is to continue working in the field of tennis, even if it is behind the scenes, and to forge new talents who can carry Italy’s name high around the world.
Doing this at this historic moment is Jannik Sinner, who is responsible for a real surge in the interest Italians have in tennis. Memberships in clubs and academies have multiplied and, with them, so has the number of spectators who have become passionate about the sport that made the San Candido native famous. And she could not fail to talk about him, too, then, Schiavone, who had some honeyed words for the Italian in her interview with QS Sport.
Sinner, the verdict is there and the hearing is off: if you say so…
“I like her not only for her character, but particularly for her commitment and willingness to work hard, day in and day out, to achieve her goals.” It’s all here, in this very flattering and representative sentence of reality, the Schiavone thought about Jannik, who then launched herself, immediately afterwards, into some other reflections.
“Patience is the secret of those who win on earth. It takes humility and work to bring out this trait, but maintaining one’s identity. On earth the smartest wins, you have to give everything and rest a lot.” Humility and spirit of sacrifice that the former champion sees in Sinner again, prompting her in the interview to make a prediction for the future.
“With respect and professionalism, I say that Sinner is the favorite in Paris. With his physical and tactical growth, he has managed to win strategically and intelligently. He has matured, and now he is able to lengthen the exchanges, moving the ball with great patience.” And if that’s how the “Court” decided, for us the hearing is off.
