Sinner injury, Italian reveals all: live announcement and clear message

by Mark

Blue tennis player Jannik Sinner will still be one of the stars of the Cincinnati Masters 1000 tournament.

It is not the easiest time for world number one Jannik Sinner. The South Tyrolean tennis player was overwhelmed by criticism for his decision not to go to the Paris Olympic Games (he was struck down with severe tonsillitis) and failed to defend his title in the Montreal Masters 1000, which was surprisingly finished by Australian Alexei Popyrin.

Jannik had an unresistible slate and succumbed in the Quarterfinals to Russia’s Rublev, knockout in three sets but mostly a defeat that saw the return of the unfortunately ‘usual’ physical problems. In this 2024 Sinner took great satisfaction, won major tournaments and became number one in the world but was forced to skip major tournaments because of hip problems. Even during the match against Rublev several times we noticed the physical problems with Jannik touching his hip, definitely not good news in view of the upcoming engagements.

The Italian lost 800 points in the last tournament and now Carlos Alcaraz is watching the top spot ever closer. The Spaniard has won Roland Garros and Wimbledon and is studying the possible overtaking in the rankings, an overtaking that could come in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, in the pre-Cincinnati press conference Jannik shed light on his condition and tried to reassure fans.

The Italian tennis player appeared quite satisfied about his condition and clarified, “I feel pretty good, I spent almost a week without training before the Montreal tournament and then I played for two or three days in a row and then more than usual.” The South Tyrolean explained:

“Yes, I think that might have affected the hip, but I’m not worried at all. The hip is fine and I’m looking forward to getting back on the court in the Cincinnati Masters 1000.” Jannik’s schedule could see him opposing Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the Round of 16 and Rublev, a tennis player who just beat him in Montreal, in the Quarterfinals. There is curiosity to see the South Tyrolean on the court and to assess his physical condition.

This is to defend the top spot in the Atp rankings and the Race and, above all, to arrive in the best possible shape for crucial appointments such as the Us Open and the Atp Finals in Turin. Sinner – given the surface – starts as a big favorite in these events, but much will depend on his physical condition.
