Serie B, it’s a round that offers several cues: swinging Sampdoria pays a visit to leading Pisa while Sassuolo is the guest of Sudtirol.
The long-distance duel between Pisa and Sassuolo continues in Serie B, with Spezia still unbeaten trying to keep up with the teams currently occupying the top two places. In the other zones we then find two newly promoted teams, Cesena and Juve Stabia, fourth and sixth respectively, and in between them Cremonese reinvigorated by the Corini cure (the former Palermo coach took Stroppa’s place a few weeks ago).
Day 13, the last one before the break, could it deal some shake-up to the current standings? The match to watch out for seems to be the one at the Arena Garibaldi between Pippo Inzaghi’s Pisa and Andrea Sottil’s swinging Sampdoria. After two draws in a row, the Tuscans returned to winning ways last weekend: 3-1 to Cremonese away and overtaking Sassuolo averted. Samp, on the other hand, fell again, surrendering 1-0 to Brescia, who ran away at Marassi. The blucerchiati have nothing to envy the Nerazzurri in terms of squad, but they remain unpredictable and not completely “cured”: for this reason a victory by Pisa, still unbeaten at home, is to be considered. Remaining ready to take advantage of any misstep is Sassuolo, on the strength of a string of positive results that has been going on since September. The Emiliani, fresh from their narrow success over Mantova, visit a Sudtirol side that has just exonerated coach Federico Valente, replacing him with Marco Zaffaroni. It is only fair to expect a minimum ci reaction from the Altoatesini, who in the last two months have had the better of Cosenza exclusively (four points out of 21 available).
The predictions on the other matches
The Carrarese, which hasn’t lost for six days now, has made a big leap in the standings: the Apuans, after the two 0-0 draws with Bari and Juve Stabia, should also be able to hold off the attack of a Modena that no longer knows how to win and that after the defeat with Spezia exonerated Pierpaolo Bisoli (Mandelli arrived in his place).
Cosenza visits Brescia in a remake of the playout playoff two seasons ago. The Lupi despite being -4 in the standings are more alive than ever and last Sunday came close to a second straight win against Salernitana: we predict at least one goal on each side. Cremonese, on the other hand, is on the scene in Mantua, where no one has been able to take the three points: another positive result for the Virgilians is likely. Cittadella has been reborn since Alessandro Dal Canto was on the bench: not even fizzing Cesena can afford to underestimate the Veneti, who in the last two days have stopped Sampdoria and beaten Palermo. Spezia takes no chances at home to Juve Stabia, while Catanzaro suffering from “pareggitis” faces a struggling Reggiana. We close with Salernitana-Bari: better the Galletti at this juncture but a balanced match looms.
