Serie B, Cesena after having succeeded a few weeks ago in the Coppa Italia will attempt another blitz at the home of the leader Pisa.
After five consecutive victories, Pisa, the current Serie B leader, suffered its first defeat a week ago at the home of newly promoted Juve Stabia. A stop that did not jeopardize the supremacy of Pippo Inzaghi’s men but still rang alarm bells, especially since a few days earlier the Tuscans had also surrendered to Cesena (0-1) in the Coppa Italia, missing out on access to the round of 16.
Inzaghi in this round of the championship will have the opportunity to “avenge” that defeat, since visiting him at the Arena Garibaldi will be Michele Mignani’s Cesena: compared to the cup match we expect a more eventful match, in which both will probably score. Last Saturday came the first ringing of Frosinone, the team that has disappointed the most so far despite a major buying campaign. The Ciociari went on to win at home against Cittadella (1-2) and have a good chance to extend their winning streak against Carrarese, last in the standings as well as the most struggling newcomer. Sassuolo will also try to take advantage of the field factor: the Emilians, coming off a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Spezia, should not make a mistake this time in front of their home crowd against a Cittadella side that is coming off two knockouts in a row.
The predictions on the other matches
In the cadetteria, the only team still unbeaten is Luca D’Angelo’s Spezia: not surprisingly, the Ligurians are second, -3 behind Pisa. Against Reggiana, which has barely collected two points in the last four days, another positive result should come.
The highlight match of the day on Sunday, on the other hand, is the one at the “Barbera” between Palermo and Salernitana: the rosanero have immediately recovered after the drubbing with Napoli in the Coppa Italia by going to win (and convince) at home of Sudtirol and could repeat against the granata, who have been on a winless streak since the end of August. We predict balance between Catanzaro and Modena but also between Cosenza and Sudtirol, with Massimiliano Alvini’s Lupi hunting for salvation points while awaiting the verdict on the appeal against the 4-point penalty. There should be no shortage of goals, finally, in the match between Cremonese and Bari and in the Lombard derby Mantova-Brescia.
