Saturday, Aug. 17 predictions: Serie A, Premier League, Ligue 1 and La Liga

by Martin

Saturday, Aug. 17 predictions, Italy’s top league reopens with as many as four early games. In Germany, on the other hand, the first trophy is awarded.

Almost all the major European leagues restart and our Serie A also restarts with no less than four advances. Reigning Italian champions Inter are also on the pitch: Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri, after dominating the previous championship, begin the defense of their title in a hostile stadium like Marassi, guests of Alberto Gilardino’s Genoa. Lautaro Martinez and his teammates did not excite as much in the preseason, but the victory against the Rossoblù, who have just sold off the two big players of last season (Retegui and Gudmundsson) should come on time.

For Raffaele Palladino’s new Fiorentina it might not go smoothly at the “Tardini” against newly promoted Parma in a match in which both will most likely score. In the two evening previews, Roberto D’Aversa’s Empoli has what it takes to at least avoid defeat against a Monza grappling with many unknowns, from Colpani’s sale to Palladino’s farewell (replaced by Nesta, in his first experience in Serie A), while Paulo Fonseca’s Milan, buoyant in the summer friendlies, is favored with Torino at the San Siro.

Predictions on the other matches

Saturday is also full of matches in the Premier League: in addition to the balanced evening match between West Ham and Aston Villa, there is great curiosity as well regarding the debuts of Liverpool and Arsenal, two of the main pretenders to the title: we assume a wide victory by Arne Slot’s Reds against Ipswich Town.

In La Liga, the Mestalla match between Valencia and Barcelona promises goals, as do the two Ligue 1 matches between Monaco and newly promoted Saint-Etienne and between Brest and Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille. Finally, in Germany, in addition to the domestic cup, the first trophy is also awarded: Bayer Leverkusen should be able to lift the Super Cup against Stuttgart.
