Roma-Torino is a match valid for the 26th day of Serie A and is played on Monday at 6:30 pm: odds, predictions, live TV, streaming.
The decision to exonerate Jose Mourinho and entrust Roma’s bench to Daniele De Rossi, a historic flag-bearer of the Giallorossi club but with only a few months of coaching experience behind him (moreover, in Serie B), was seen by many as a leap in the dark. The former “captain of the future,” however, is making everyone think again. Since taking over from the Portuguese coach, his Roma side has surrendered only to the crushing Inter, winning the remaining four league games (Verona, Salernitana, Cagliari and Frosinone).
In the Europa League, on the other hand, came two draws – 1-1 in both the first leg and the return – against Feyenoord, who experienced yet another traumatic evening at the Stadio Olimpico last Thursday, surrendering on penalties. The hero of the match with the Dutch was goalkeeper Svilar. The young Serbian defender parried two and in all likelihood permanently reversed the hierarchies, effectively “benching” his more experienced colleague Rui Patricio. Roma, which will face Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton in the round of 16, now has a duty to get back into the race for fourth place and move closer to fifth-placed Atalanta, which drew 1-1 with AC Milan at the San Siro yesterday. Further away is the surprising Bologna, which has seven more points than the Giallorossi at the moment.
To be won at all costs the challenge with Torino, on balance a direct competitor. The granata are tenth but have just five points less than the capitolini. Ivan Juric’s team was also busy Thursday, but in the league rematch with Lazio. Goals by Guendouzi and Cataldi (0-2) ended Torino’s unbeaten run, which had not lost since late December. Many regrets for the Croatian coach, as his team did not demerit at all in terms of play, sinning only in terms of cynicism under the goal.
Roma-Torino: the latest lineup news
N’Dicka returns to the center of the Giallorossi defense: the former Eintracht Frankfurt man, fresh from his Ivory Coast triumph in the African Cup of Nations, takes the place of the injured Llorente. On the outside lanes, Kristensen and Angelino, while in attack De Rossi is tempted to make Lukaku back up: it’s a tight ballot with Azmoun.
Juric’s main problems are in defense, where the injured Buongiorno, Schuurs and Tameze will be missing. In their place are Djidji, Lovato and Rodriguez, while in midfield Linetty will be preferred to Ilic.
The Prediction
Torino scores little, especially away (only 9 goals scored) but at the same time they are a very solid team and never easy to play against. Roma, however, has not lost in five games against the granata and in front of their own public this year they have only surrendered to AC Milan and Inter Milan. The cup fatigues will inevitably be felt but enthusiasm is that ingredient that can make the difference: giallorossi slightly favored in a match where both are likely to score.
