Premier League, predictions third day: matches Saturday 4 p.m.

by Martin

Premier League, teams still pinned to zero points include Everton and Southampton. Disastrous start for Wolverhampton as well.

After the first two days in the Premier League, there are four teams still with full points: the three big favorites for the title – City, Arsenal and Liverpool, collecting two wins out of two – have not disappointed, but along with them there is also the surprising Brighton, since this year led by the very young coach Hurzeler.

Ben five, on the other hand, have failed to collect a single point. The one who did badly is Sean Dyche’s Everton, overwhelmed by both Brighton (0-3) in the opener and Tottenham (4-0) on the second day. It was a nightmarish start for the Toffees, who appeared to be in great difficulty in non-possession of the ball but were also not very incisive in the opposing half, as they are still out of goals. Dyche is hoping that the rounded League Cup win against Doncaster (3-0) can give a jolt to his team, which is called upon to score against a direct competitor such as Bournemouth, fresh off two draws and a narrow defeat in the League Cup against West Ham. Brentford also wants to get back to winning ways: the Bees, always very solid at home, will try to forget the Liverpool knockout (2-0) in their home match with newly promoted Southampton, one of those teams still pinned to 0 points (and no goals like Everton).

The predictions on the other matches

Another struggling newcomer is Ipswich Town. The Tractor Boys, back in the Premier League after 22 years, immediately realized how difficult things are upstairs.

It must be said, however, that the schedule so far has been impossible: 0-2 in the opener with Liverpool and 4-1 with Pep Guardiola’s City. We’ll probably see a reaction from Kieran McKenna’s men against Fulham, but watch out for Marco Silva’s Cottagers, who got off on the right foot: the Londoners, after conceding an undeserved defeat to Manchester United, took their first three points at Craven Cottage against Leicester. For Steve Cooper’s Foxes, back in the top flight after a single season of purgatory in the Championship, it was the first defeat of the season and it will be very complicated to avoid another one against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, eager to redeem the 0-2 home loss to Arsenal. Finally, among the still undefeated teams is also Nottingham Forest, which collected 4 points between Bournemouth and Southampton: at the Reds’ home now comes Wolverhampton, rattled by the terrifying 6-2 thrashing of Chelsea on Sunday.
