Premier League, predictions day four: matches Saturday 4 p.m.

by Mike

Premier League, Liverpool and Manchester City are the only ones with full points after the first four days: predictions.

The only two teams that have not missed a beat so far in the 2024-25 Premier League are Liverpool and Manchester City, not surprisingly two of the big favorites to win the title along with Arsenal. Immaculate is the path of both after the first three days: the Reds beat Ipswich Town, Brentford, and in the last round before the break for national team commitments they went wild at Old Trafford against historic rivals Manchester United, overwhelmed 3-0 at home.

Couldn’t have dreamed of a better start for new coach Arne Slot, who picked up the very heavy legacy of Jurgen Klopp. His Liverpool is shining especially in non-possession of the ball, collecting three consecutive clean sheets. Nor has defending champion Manchester City shown any major weaknesses.

Pep Guardiola’s men, while failing to keep their goal unbeaten, bagged six more points between Ipswich Town and West Ham (in their debut, however, they had won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge over Chelsea). Another win is likely to come this weekend, both for the Reds and the Cityzens, who are likely to get the better of home matches over the not irresistible Nottingham Forest and Brentford in two games that promise at least three goals total. They will also make sure to take advantage of the field factor as will Crystal Palace, hunting for their first league win after two defeats to Brentford and West Ham and a draw with Chelsea. The Eagles at Stamford Bridge appeared to be on the rise and the challenge with newly promoted Leicester looks like the right one to take the zero out of the win box.

The predictions on the other matches

The surprise of the first three days was probably Brighton, which, after parting ways with De Zerbi, relied on the very young but prepared Swiss coach Fabian Hurzeler.

The Seagulls won their first two matches with Everton and Manchester United, and two weeks went out with a valuable point in their pocket from Emirates Stadium, stopping Arsenal at 1-1. The positive streak is likely to continue against Ipswich Town: the newly promoted Tractor Boys have yet to adapt to the category, although in the last round they got their first point against Fulham. We expect great balance, finally, in Fulham-West Ham, a London derby that promises sparks (and goals)
