Premier League, spotlight on the match between Brentford and Bournemouth with the Cherries in high spirits after successes against Arsenal and Manchester City.
The tour de force is almost over. In the Premier League, as in the other leagues, there is still a day left to play before another break for national team commitments that will allow several teams-especially those participating in European cups-to catch their breath for at least a couple of weeks.
On Saturday afternoon’s “menu” (4 p.m.) four matches are scheduled, and almost all of them concern the right side of the standings, from the fight for salvation to trying to get closer to the European zone. Especially interesting is the match between Brentford and Bournemouth, in 10th and 12th place respectively, separated by just 2 points. Ahead are Andoni Iraola’s Cherries, who are having a truly fantastic time and in the last three days have taken the scalps of two title candidates such as Arsenal and Manchester City (in addition to drawing with Aston Villa). For the Rossoneri, however, it will not be easy to conquer the stadium of Brentford, the team that has so far scored the most points in front of its own public along with City (13). In any case, there are preconditions to witness a spectacular match, in which most likely both will score. Also on 15 points like Bournemouth is Fulham, now accustomed to frequenting the mid-table. The Cottagers, fresh off two positive results, will visit Crystal Palace in one of many London derbies and should at least avoid defeat.
The predictions on the other matches
Situation of precarious standings for West Ham and Everton: the one at London Stadium for now is a salvation clash between two teams that certainly did not shine in the first 10 days.
Surprising (in a negative way) above all is the disappointing performance of the Hammers, last Saturday overwhelmed at the City Ground by Nottingham Forest (3-0): the bench of Julen Lopetegui, who has even managed to make his predecessor Moyes regret it, continues to dance dangerously. Everton, on the other hand, has appeared to be on the upswing in recent weeks, but the defeat to newly promoted Southampton represented a worrying step backward: the Toffees will do anything to take at least a point away from London. Finally, the clash of the “desperate” is between Wolverhampton and Southampton, last and second last, respectively: the Wolves are still winless and have conceded a whopping 27 goals, but this could be the turning point against a team that has the worst external performance in the league.
