Also anxious was his colleague Michal Probierz, Poland’s selector. He has injured his strongest and most representative player, Robert Lewandowski, who is sure to miss the first match. A gigantic problem for the Biało-czerwoni, who a few days earlier had also “said goodbye” to Juventus’ Milik, who was forced to undergo surgery. Poland made it to Euro 2024 via the play-offs after finishing third in the qualifying round behind Albania and the Czech Republic. A penalty shootout victory over Wales last March was decisive.
