Nottingham Forest-Liverpool, Premier League: line-ups, predictions

by Lea

Nottingham Forest-Liverpool is a match valid for the thirteenth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 13:30: predictions, TV, streaming.

In the week Liverpool took home their third consecutive victory between the Premier and Champions League: it is the longest streak so far in the season for the Reds, whose path in these first months has been decidedly disappointing. Victories that have nevertheless been fundamental to restart Jurgen Klopp’s ‘war machine’, far from the first place – Arsenal have eleven points more – but nevertheless back in the noble zones of the classification. Against Manchester City and West Ham, however, it cannot be said that Salah and his team-mates were fully convinced: the defensive phase was good – goalkeeper Alisson kept his goal unbroken on both occasions – but the success came from an episode, as the final result tells (both Citizens and Hammers lost 1-0 at Anfield Road). Two narrowly won matches that could have ended differently if Foden’s goal had not been disallowed and Bowen had not missed the penalty kick for the possible equaliser after Darwin Nunez’s initial goal.

Either way, Klopp cannot afford any more breaks if he wants to keep his chances of getting back into the title fight. The Reds will open their Week 13 programme at the City Ground against bottom-of-the-table Nottingham Forest. There are tentative signs of recovery for Steve Cooper’s side, who have been able to move up the table in the last three games, picking up two draws against Aston Villa and Brighton. On Tuesday, the Garibaldi Reds withstood the onslaught of De Zerbi’s side, playing virtually only in their own half of the pitch.

The Prediction

Nottingham Forest are likely to barricade themselves in their own area again but this time it might not be enough to avoid defeat against a resurgent Liverpool. In all likelihood Klopp’s side will not only take the three points but also keep their goals unbeaten, as they have done in their last two games.

The Nottingham Forest-Liverpool line-up probables

  • NOTTINGHAM FOREST (4-3-3): Henderson; Williams, Cook, McKenna, Renan Lodi; Mangala, Yates, Freuler; Gibbs-White, Dennis, Johnson.
  • LIVERPOOL (4-4-2): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Salah, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, Fabio Carvalho; Darwin Nunez, Firmino.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 0-2
