Newcastle-Aston Villa is a match valid for the fourteenth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4pm: predictions, TV and streaming.
The club may not yet be a credible title contender, but Newcastle have shown in these first twelve days of the season that they are on the right path to becoming – one assumes relatively quickly – a Premier League big name. It was only a year ago that the club was bought by the very rich Saudi fund Pif. The change of ownership was obviously greeted with general enthusiasm, but few thought that things could change so quickly, given that the Magpies at the time were floundering in the relegation zone. In the last two football sessions Newcastle have spent a lot, but they have done it by making targeted purchases, functional to the game that Eddie Howe, a valid coach who is confirming himself as one of the most brilliant in the English top league, has in mind. With just a few days to go before the World Cup break, the Bianconeri are fourth in the standings ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United: to find a better start than this one you have to go back to the 2011-12 season, when Newcastle eventually achieved an excellent fifth place.
Trippier and co. have only lost to Liverpool, are still unbeaten in front of their home crowd and have won four of their last five games in October. Last Saturday they beat Tottenham 2-1, and two days earlier they were unbeaten at Old Trafford (0-0) against Manchester United.
They will try to extend the positive series against Aston Villa, who have just signed Unai Emery – paying a 6 million clause to Villarreal – to replace the exonerated Steven Gerrard. The Spaniard, for bureaucratic reasons, will not be able to sit on the bench: it will still be up to the ferryman Aaron Danks, who nevertheless made his debut with a roaring 4-0 win at Brentford, bringing the Villans back to success after five days.
The Prediction
Newcastle are doing very well despite a few major absences (Isak, Saint-Maximin) sustaining a big-game pace. They are still undefeated at home and will probably remain so even after the match against Aston Villa, who have never won away. In short, there is a good chance Newcastle will also win this match while keeping their goal unbeaten.
