Newcastle-Everton, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Mark

Newcastle-Everton is a match valid for the twelfth day of the Premier League and is played on Wednesday at 20:30: formations, predictions, TV and streaming.

About a year ago Newcastle were bought by the extremely wealthy Saudi fund Pif. It was news that was greeted with jubilation by the fans of the club, which for too many years had been struggling between anonymous seasons and others lived with the constant fear of finding itself in the Championship, the English lower division. The strengthening campaign in the next two markets, the one in January and the one in June, as expected, was impressive: the ownership spared no expense to ensure that the Magpies would return to the right side of the table. Newcastle are not yet equipped to compete with the big boys, but they are enjoying a very positive first half of the season. After ten rounds they are sixth, in the middle of the European zone, the goal that coach Eddie Howe and his men set themselves last summer.

The only defeat, so far, came at Anfield Road against Liverpool. For the rest, many draws, no less than six – a sign that there is still something to refine, especially in the possession phase – and three wins. On Sunday, Wilson and his team-mates emerged from Old Trafford unscathed, picking up a precious point in the challenge against a likely direct competitor for Europe such as Manchester United. Now the midweek round against Frank Lampard’s Everton, back from the double defeat against Manchester United and Tottenham: the former Chelsea captain does not despair, because these are certainly not the opponents with whom his Toffees must score points. The Liverpool line-up currently has ten points, but the relegation zone is not that far away: from tenth place down the table is very short.

The Prediction

Newcastle in front of their home crowd have never lost, while also conceding very few goals. Everton, on the other hand, are currently second-to-last in home performances, with only Nottingham Forest doing worse away from home than the Toffees. A win for the hosts is therefore to be expected in a match with at least two goals in total.

Newcastle-Everton line-up probables

  • NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Botman, Burn, Targett; Willock, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton; Almiron, Wilson, Fraser.
  • EVERTON (4-3-3): Pickford; Coleman, Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Iwobi, Gueye, Onana; Gray, Maupay, Gordon.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-0
