Newcastle-Arsenal, Premier League: odds, predictions.

by Mike

Newcastle-Arsenal is a match valid for the 35th day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 5:30 pm: TV, predictions.

The hopes Arsenal fans were pinning on Leeds yesterday afternoon, as expected, proved to be in vain: although not shining-perhaps because of the upcoming Champions League semifinal with Real-Manchester City also filed the Whites (2-1), extending their kilometer-long winning streak and pulling away from the Gunners in the standings.

It’s up to the Londoners now to replicate, knowing that any misstep at home to Newcastle would be the tombstone on their now derisory chances of ascending the English throne after nineteen years. Pep Guardiola’s team, in fact, always has one game less than Arsenal and the gap could be even wider. Mikel Arteta, however, has a duty to believe it to the last, at least until mathematics “proclaims” Haaland and his teammates champions of England for the third year in a row. Arsenal, for that matter, has no other choice now that it is forced to chase after commanding the Premier League for months and repeatedly stroking the idea of returning to winning ways.

Gunners, goodbye glory dreams?

The drubbing in the direct clash with the Citizens, meanwhile, has been forgotten: the Gunners reacted in the midweek round, winning the derby with Chelsea (3-1) and savoring again the sweet taste of victory after four rounds (3 draws and one defeat).

Repeating at home to a Newcastle side that wants to secure Champions League placement as soon as possible, however, will be far from easy. In fact, Eddie Howe’s Magpies are marching at a rapid pace and have almost exclusively won since last March, with the exception of the misstep at home to Aston Villa. They have been winning for three consecutive games, in which they have scored a beauty of thirteen goals, taking Tottenham, Everton and Southampton by storm. Behind, Liverpool is getting dangerously close again, and the Bianconeri, who in any case have a match to make up against the Reds, cannot afford to slow down. The first leg ended in a deadlocked draw between Newcastle and Arsenal: the Gunners have not won since 2021 at St James’ Park. Howe will most likely have to give up Saint-Maximin and Longstaff.

The Prediction

For Newcastle it is a dream season: on only one occasion in its history had it scored more points (65) after 33 league games. The Magpies are in top form and have lost only one game at home, surrendering to Liverpool. In our opinion Arsenal will not be able to return to London with the three points in their pockets, thus seeing their already residual chances of winning the title fade away. There will be no shortage of goals in any case, as Newcastle has struggled to keep its goal unbeaten in recent matches.

The likely Newcastle-Arsenal lineups

  • NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn; Willock, Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Almiron.
  • ARSENAL (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; White, Kiwior, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Xhaka, Partey; Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli; Gabriel Jesus.

POSSIBLE RESULT: 2-2
