Nantes-PSG is a match valid for the 22nd day of Ligue 1 and is played Saturday at 9 p.m.: stats, probable formations, live TV and predictions.
Mbappé and Barcola, the present and future of French soccer, settled the Real Sociedad file last Wednesday, allowing PSG to mortgage qualification to the Champions League quarterfinals, the great dream in the drawer of the demanding patron Al-Khelaifi.
The reigning French champions prevailed 2-0 at the Parc des Princes. And in the return match, on Basque soil, they will even be able to afford to lose, as long as by just one goal. Luis Enrique’s team confirms that they are in a good moment – their last knockout was in November, when they surrendered to AC Milan – and now they will be able to concentrate without too many worries on the championship. The Spanish coach wants another run of form, aiming to stretch further on the pursuers – after the last round Nice plunged to -11 – and put a serious mortgage on yet another title. Meanwhile, thanks to Saturday’s success against Lille (3-1), PSG has reached 50 points: in the history of the French top league, only one team (Nimes) has failed to become champions after scoring so many at this point in the season.
In Ligue 1, PSG has not lost since September
Mbappé and his teammates so far in Ligue 1 have barely cashed in a defeat: it was September and it was Italian Farioli’s Nice that gave PSG a setback, taking the three points away from the Parc des Princes.
Luis Enrique and his men this weekend will pay a visit to the perilous Nantes, fresh from their away success against Toulouse (1-2), a direct clash between two teams currently floating above the red zone. A liberation of sorts for Jocelyn Gourvennec’s yellow-greens, who had not won in over two months and had been coming off a very difficult few weeks. The relegation danger, however, is far from averted: third-last Lorient has only three points less than Nantes.
The prediction
Unbeaten for 16 games, PSG should have no problem in conquering the Nantes stadium as well. The European exertions will not affect them much given the huge gap but it is not to be ruled out that, as in the first leg – the Parisians came out on top with difficulty 2-1 – Nantes will manage to score at least one goal.
