Monza-Cagliari is a match valid for the twenty-ninth day of Serie A and is played on Saturday at 3 p.m.: odds, predictions, live TV, streaming.
The glorious Berlusconi era at Monza will probably come to an end soon – the club is apparently changing hands – but the Brianzoli have now become a solid reality in our league and for the second year in a row have achieved salvation, their main goal, with enormous anticipation.
Today, after twenty-eight days, Raffaele Palladino’s team has 39 points and is tenth in the standings, not even that far from that seventh place that could mean Conference League at the end of the season. All that remains to be seen is whether the biancorossi are really capable of being able to aspire to such an important goal – Monza until two years ago had never been in the top flight – and insert themselves in a struggle that at the moment is involving several teams, on paper superior to the Lombardi. Monza meanwhile does not give the impression that it wants to slow down and in the last seven games has cashed only one defeat, the home one against Roma. A week ago, however, a performance of character allowed them to conquer one of the most hostile fields in Serie A, that of Marassi (2-3 against Genoa).
Brianzoli will referee the fight for salvation this weekend, hosting Cagliari at the U-Power Stadium. The Sardinians may have put a small mortgage on their goal thanks to their two consecutive victories in their direct clashes with Empoli and Salernitana – four useful results in a row – but there is still a long way to go, as the third-last, Frosinone, is still only two points behind the Rossoblù.
Monza-Cagliari: the latest lineup news
Palladino has now cleared the four-man defense. Birindelli and Carboni on the flanks and Pablò Marì and Izzo in the middle. Against Cagliari there will be no Gagliardini, injured, and in the midfield next to captain Pessina will play Bondo. Maldini, a great protagonist in the last matches, should start on the bench, ready to alternate with young jewel Valentin Carboni.
vOn the other hand, Ranieri may have to give up Gaetano, the young Napoli-owned trequartista whose goals and plays helped drag the Sardinians out of the red zone. If he fails to make it, Shomurodov is ready. Also in doubt is Mina: on early alert is Wieteska.
The prediction
Cagliari, entangled in the fight not to relegate, will certainly have some more motivation than Monza, although the Brianzoli are showing that they do not have a full belly and are unlikely to give anything away. A draw, a result that already occurred in the first leg (1-1), would really be gold for Claudio Ranieri’s men, always unbeaten in their last four matches. Both should score.
