Milan-Inter 1-2, Serie A VIDEO highlights: report cards and moviola

by Thorsten

Milan-Inter: the video with highlights and highlights of the Monday, April 22, 2024 Serie A evening match, with moviola episodes and report cards.

Here comes the long-awaited moment: Inter has a chance to win the Scudetto during the derby by defeating their cousins Milan. Should the Rossoneri win or draw, the victory would be postponed. Pioli’s team, despite having little hope of recovering positions, cannot go out defeated for yet another stracittadina, especially after the Europa League disappointment against Roma.

Inzaghi fields the best lineup, preferring Darmian to Dumfries at the last minute. AC Milan responds with the announced move of Rafael Leao deployed as the only forward (Giroud starts from the bench) and Musah, Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic in the three-quarter.

Milan is without Thiaw, who is disqualified. So Gabbia and Tomori (who is cautioned, along with Musah and coach Pioli) play in defense. Inter has no disqualified players. There is great tension at the San Siro before the opening whistle. The fans, tense, fill the stands.

Highlights of the challenge

The Nerazzurri quickly lead the game but without finding outlets. On 8′, Lautaro tried to put it in first but his attempt went high and went too far over the crossbar. A minute later, tempers heat up, with Adli, Barella and Mkhitaryan trying to make themselves respected in more than just words. At 17′, Inter took the lead on a corner: spit by Pavard and Acerbi’s header into the net.

Lautaro gobbles up an empty-goal goal at 24′ on a nice cross from Dimarco. Sommer easily blocks a central shot by Leao, launched only on a counterattack at 29′. Ten minutes later Thuram hits the post. In 40′ Sommer responds with a great intervention on Calabria’s strong attempt. At the other end Mkhitaryan shoots centrally and makes easy work of Maignan.

49′, Thuram does it all by himself for the Nerazzurri’s double: he stoops, finds the depth, centers, charges the shot and finds the corner punishing Maignan at the first post. In 52′, Theo Hernandez shoots from outside: Sommer parries without any problems. Calhanoglu tries with a great shot from outside in 57′, but the French goalkeeper lifts it over the crossbar.

Milan has after 70′ a half-chance with Pulisic, with the shot ending high over the crossbar. In the 80′, Sommer closes very well on Gabbia’s header from a corner, but is helpless on Tomori’s tap-in: Milan shorten. Brawl on the pitch between Theo Hernandez and Dumfries in the final: the referee who is forced to draw red to both players. Inter is champion of Italy!

The best player on the field is Thuram; the Frenchman starts shy, then with his accelerations unleashes panic among the Rossoneri, finds a sensational post and also creates a lot on the three-quarter and in finishing, then at the beginning of the second half he creates on his own, by power, the goal for the Nerazzurri’s doubling (7.5). Pavard: his is the decisive spurt for Acerbi’s goal and always careful in closing (7.5). Leao would have in the first half a very good chance to equalize right away, his shot, however, is slow and central (6).

Sommer makes a great save in the 40′; otherwise he does the bare minimum (7). Barella struggles mightily in all areas of the field, clashes several times with Hernandez and gets an avoidable caution (6.5). Tomori leaves something to be desired in defense but is the last to give up and also scores the 1-2 goal (6.5). Adli combines little, more like trying to mess with and without the ball (5).

Moviola and highlights of the match

The referee handles the initial nervousness on the field with little confidence. He cautions a lot and right away. There are several doubts about the yellow to Lautaro. Expelled in the final Dumfries and Theo for brawling. Correct decision. The same goes for the red in time out to Calabria. At the end of the match it can be said that the refereeing was lackluster and punctual.
