Milan-Atalanta, Serie A: streaming, odds, predictions

by Michael

Milan-Atalanta is a match valid for the 26th day of Serie A and is played on Sunday at 8:45 pm: odds, predictions, live TV, streaming.

Atalanta seems to be the only one who can overturn the well-established hierarchies at the top of the standings: Milan and Juventus, third and second respectively, still boast a good margin over La Dea – the Rossoneri are currently 7 points up – but they cannot afford to underestimate Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, which in the new year has been on a roll and has done practically nothing wrong.

The Bergamaschi are by far the fittest along with leading Inter: they have won last six games, a winning streak inaugurated precisely with their success against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia last January 10 (1-2). Gasperini is flying thanks to an attack that since the match with Frosinone a month ago has scored a beauty of 17 goals, rediscovering a scoring continuity that had been missing in these parts for some time. Atalanta is currently the most credible candidate for fourth place, waiting to see whether Bologna will continue to surprise and whether Roma and Napoli will have the strength to get back into the race. The last two outings, on the other hand, have downgraded Milan, beaten 4-2 by Monza on the last day of Serie A and 3-2 by Rennes in the return leg of the play-off for access to the Europa League round of 16.

The defeat suffered in France hurt less, considering that Stefano Pioli’s team had won 3-0 in the first leg, but defensive uncertainties (7 goals conceded in a few days) were a constant in both Brianza and the Breton away match. The draw for the round of 16 was benevolent with Milan, paired with Slavia Prague, while Atalanta will find again the fearsome Portuguese Sporting CP, already faced during the group stage.

Milan-Atalanta: the latest lineup news

In Milan, Tomori, Calabria and Kalulu return to the squad: Pioli can smile but the three defenders will sit on the bench for now. In the middle of the defense Kjaer and Gabbia should play while in the middle Bennacer is likely to have the worst of it in the duel with Adli. Up front the usual, with Giroud supported by Loftus-Cheek, Leao and Pulisic. There is no Jovic, disqualified after the red he received in Monza.

Gasperini has to make and minus only Palomino and Hien. For the rest, the Nerazzurri coach will be able to field the best eleven: in attack, former De Ketelaere will be joined by Miranchuk, ahead of Scamacca and Lookman.

The Prediction

The previous two matches of the season were both won by Atalanta, which in the space of a month got the better of Pioli’s Rossoneri 3-2 and 2-1. La Dea, needless to reiterate, is in fine form and should be able to avoid defeat at the San Siro as well, finding at least on one occasion the way of the goal.

The probable formations of Milan-Atalanta

MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Adli, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.
ATALANTA (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi; Scalvini, Djimsiti, Kolasinac; Holm, de Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; Koopmeiners; Miranchuk, De Ketelaere.
