Manchester United-Leicester is a match valid for the 24th day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 15:00: TV, formations, predictions
The continuous slowdown of Arsenal – back to win only in this round after a match at home of Aston Villa, to say the least – has relaunched the title ambitions of Manchester United, that in case of success in the Sunday match against Leicester would move back to -5 from the top. The Red Devils, who are coming off an excellent performance in Barcelona, are closing the gap on the leaders.
In the super-match against the Blaugrana in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 play-off, Erik ten Hag’s men played a high-intensity game and came close to a win that would have put qualification on the line ahead of the return leg in less than a week’s time at Old Trafford. In Catalonia it ended 2-2, a result that leaves everything open. At the moment, however, the focus is on what is happening in the Premier League, where Rashford and his team-mates are called upon to consolidate one of the top four Champions League places before embarking on a possible run-in against City’s cousins and Arteta’s Gunners. The conditions for dreaming their way back into the title race, however, seem to be in place: since the season resumed Manchester United have lost just once in sixteen matches between competitions.
Leicester
And in seven days ten Hag will have the chance to lift his first title since coaching in England: the League Cup final against Newcastle awaits him at Wembley.
United who, however, will have to pay close attention to a Leicester side that gives the impression of being reborn. Since their FA Cup win over Walsall, the Foxes have strung together two resounding victories against Aston Villa and Tottenham, scoring a total of eight goals. Six points that allow Brendan Rodgers to restart after an extremely disappointing period, with his team ending up fighting for relegation. The danger is not yet completely averted but this is definitely a different Leicester.
The Prediction
A match that hides several pitfalls for Manchester United, who are still favourites for the three points despite the energy wasted at Camp Nou. It promises to be a spectacular match, with at least three goals in total: Leicester have returned to scoring consistently, but they are still conceding a lot of goals.
