Manchester City-Nottingham Forest, Premier League: line-ups, predictions

by Thorsten

Manchester City-Nottingham Forest is a match on the sixth day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4pm: TV, formations, predictions.

Rodri, the hero of Istanbul, and world champion Julian Alvarez, who scored a brace, enabled Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to overturn a Red Star side that had taken the lead on practically the first shot on goal defended by Ederson on Tuesday. A comeback victory – but without any particular suffering – for the reigning European champions, which already puts the qualification discourse on a downward slope.

The 3-1 win over the Serbians was the Cityzens’ seventh win in a row, if we include in the tally the penalty shoot-out victory over Sevilla in the European Super Cup tie. A sensational start, marred only by the knockout, again on penalties, against Arsenal in the Community Shield in August. But what is most important, for the Catalan coach, is to continue to see the same fire in his men’s eyes as last year. No belly full syndrome, then, despite the fact that in the space of a few months the three-time English champions have won (almost) everything there is to win, including the coveted Champions League.

Ahead of their League Cup opener with Newcastle next week, Haaland and his team-mates, first alone and still with a full points tally after five Premier League rounds, will host Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium.

Taking a look at the results, you really couldn’t ask for more from the Tricky Trees, whose only defeats came at home to Arsenal and Manchester United. In front of their own home crowd, the red and whites have yet to lose (four points between Sheffield United and Burnley) and before the break they even went on to win at Stamford Bridge, taking the scalp of Pochettino’s Chelsea thanks to a goal from Elanga. Cooper, in the on paper prohibitive trip to Manchester, is expected to recover Boly, while Danilo is out. Guardiola’s injury list is joined by Bernardo Silva.

The prediction

Nottingham Forest have made a good start to the season, more than positive for a team aiming for safety. Steve Cooper’s team shouldn’t disfigure even against the champions of everything, although they will hardly be able to avoid defeat. City’s defence, which has only remained inviolate on one occasion so far, may have to postpone its first clean sheet in over a month.
