Luton Town-Manchester City is an FA Cup fifth-round match and is played Tuesday at 9 p.m.: odds, predictions, live TV and streaming.
There really is no stopping in England, and after a crackling weekend, in which the League Cup final at Wembley between Chelsea and Liverpool was also staged – the Reds came out on top just before penalties, bringing home their tenth triumph in the competition – it’s the turn of the other national cup, the most important one, the FA Cup. Holders Manchester City have so far not taken it lightly, beating first Huddersfield (overwhelmed 5-0) and then Tottenham, eliminated thanks to a goal in the final game by Aké (0-1).
The Cityzens in the fifth round of the event will face Luton Town, a team struggling in the Premier League to avoid ending up immediately downstairs after last year’s promotion. The Hatters, who in the last two rounds of the FA Cup knocked off Bolton – after the replay – and Everton come from three consecutive league defeats. A week ago they were thrashed by Liverpool (4-1) while in the previous two games they had surrendered to Sheffield United and Manchester United, never conceding less than two goals. Rob Edwards’ men are third-last, -4 from the salvation zone: complicating matters was the return to Everton of 4 of the 10 penalty points: the closest team now is Forest.
Guardiola with the (almost) full squad
For Pep Guardiola, this match is bound to go by the wayside, as the reigning European and English champions will play a slice of the season in the coming weeks.
The city derby with United is scheduled for Sunday, then it will be the turn of the Champions League round of 16 with Copenhagen and finally the long-awaited direct title clash against Liverpool at Anfield Road. Indeed, in the standings, after their narrow success with Bournemouth, the Cityzens are still -1 behind the Reds, who continue to look down on everyone. Guardiola has to do without only Gvardiol, which is why he will be able to rotate quite a few players without any problem.
The prediction
A match that, if he could, Guardiol would have avoided playing in order to better prepare for upcoming engagements. Manchester City last December in Luton needed a complicated comeback to take away the three points and this time too it will not go smoothly: the hosts should score at least one goal.
