Liverpool v West Ham, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Michael

Liverpool-West Ham is a match valid for the twelfth day of the Premier League and it is played on Wednesday at 20:30: predictions, tv, streaming.

Overestimating a team like Liverpool can be dangerous and in the end you risk being disappointed. That’s what happened to Manchester City who, against all odds, came away with a 0-1 defeat in the eagerly-awaited big match at Anfield Road on Sunday, allowing the Reds to raise their heads and recover important positions in the standings after a disappointing start that fell far short of expectations. The hero of the day was not Erling Haaland but Mohamed Salah, who, a quarter of an hour before the final whistle, with the game deadlocked at 0-0, took advantage of a mistake by Cancelo to head towards Ederson’s goal and gently deposit the ball behind him. Jurgen Klopp’s men came out on top in the most difficult challenge of the game, one that could have sunk them even further and put them out of the title race for good.

Three healthy points for the vice-champions of England and Europe, who had failed to win in the Premier League since last August. Klopp is breathing, he glimpses the light again but to make official the ‘recovery’ of his Liverpool team we still have to wait. In the meantime, bad news continues to arrive from the infirmary: Diogo Jota, who came out of the Citizens’ match with an injury, has found a serious calf problem that will not allow him to take part in the World Cup in Qatar with Portugal. A bad blow for the German coach, who now has fewer alternatives in attack. In the midweek round at Anfield comes West Ham, slightly on the up after a nightmarish start. But the Londoners are still not what they were last year: their four-game winning streak came to a halt on Sunday, when Scamacca and his team-mates did not go beyond a narrow 1-1 draw.

The Prediction

The narrow victory over City can act as a driving force for Liverpool, who should be able to beat a West Ham side still too inconsistent in front of their home crowd. The total number of goals is likely to be at least three: at home, the Reds’ attack hardly ever betrays, and Klopp can also rely on a rediscovered Salah. The Hammers are also likely to find their way to goal.
