Liverpool-Leicester is a match for the 18th day of the Premier League and is played on Friday at 21:00: predictions, TV, streaming
Jurgen Klopp, albeit a few days late, has found a pretty good present under the tree. Liverpool made official on Wednesday evening the purchase of Cody Gakpo, one of the great revelations of the World Cup and a young star of Psv Eindhoven.
Manchester United were also on his trail, but the Reds management were quicker, paying out a relatively low figure by the standards of the English top flight: 42 million euros plus bonuses for the Dutch trequartista. This widens the German coach’s range of solutions in attack, where he currently has to cope with the physical problems of Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Firmino. The former Psv man could even make his debut in the Premier League clash with Leicester, but everything will depend on paperwork. Liverpool meanwhile got right back on track after their League Cup defeat to Manchester City in the first match after the long break. They took the three points with authority against Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, beaten 3-1 at home.
A tricky comeback for the Foxes
A success, the third in a row in the league, which allows Salah and his team-mates to move to within -5 of fourth-placed Tottenham – but Spurs have played an extra game – and improve a league table conditioned by a tricky start, to say the least.
For Leicester, however, it was a Boxing Day to forget, with Brendan Rodgers’ men humiliated at the King Power Stadium by the unstoppable Newcastle. The 3-0 home defeat broke the Foxes’ winning streak, as they had made it four in a row between the Premier League and League Cup. Leicester’s league table remains perilous, as there seems to be no run-of-the-mill teams this year: there are only four points between the East Midlands club’s 13th place finish and third-last Wolverhampton.
The Prediction
Leicester have a better performance away from home and, judging by the unusual permeability of Klopp’s team, we believe that at least one goal the Foxes can score in this prohibitive away match. Otherwise, it is difficult to assume a positive result for them at Anfield against a Liverpool side on the upswing and obliged to score.
