Leicester-Tottenham is a match valid for the twenty-third day of the Premier League and is played on Saturday at 4pm: TV, formations, predictions.
Tottenham seem to have found their way out of the tunnel they had got themselves into and last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City is the clearest proof of that. A goal from the usual Harry Kane prevented Pep Guardiola’s Citizens from taking advantage of Arsenal’s resounding misstep at Goodison Park against Everton and at the same time gave Antonio Conte his second Premier League success in a row.
Two “short snout” victories for the coach from Salento, who two weeks before had got the better of the London derby with the same result against Fulham, chastened again by the national team striker (who after the goal at City became the second best scorer of all times for the North London club). The victories, however, become three if we also include the one against Preston North End in the FA Cup, overwhelmed 3-0: a ticket for the round of 16, where Tottenham will face Sheffield United on 1st March. Speaking of cups, the intriguing challenge with Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan in the Champions League is also imminent: after the trip to Leicester, Spurs will take the plane to the Milanese capital, the venue for the first leg of the round of 16. It is therefore crucial not to miss the appointment with the three points at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester are back in the air
Winning would mean momentarily leapfrogging Newcastle into fourth place, pending the Magpies playing Bournemouth a few hours later.
The days of Leicester being a direct contender for Europe are long gone, although the Foxes had a major jolt in the last round of the season. They broke their winning streak by defeating Aston Villa 2-4. Brendan Rodgers deserved the trust of the club despite the difficult times of the past weeks and is now out of the relegation zone. The new faces (Tete, Kristiansen) have brought a breath of fresh air, but the coach has rediscovered the explosiveness of Nigerian striker Iheanacho, who has scored in two games in a row.
The Prediction
The heavy absences of Lloris (injured) and Romero (disqualified) suggest that Tottenham may at least get a goal back after three clean sheets in a row. As for the final result, we still think Spurs are favourites.
