Leicester-Everton, Premier League: odds, predictions.

by Lea

Leicester-Everton is a match valid for the thirty-fourth day of the Premier League and is played on Monday at 9 pm: TV, predictions.

Leicester and Everton share a very ambitious recent past, especially in the case of the Foxes, who after the historic 2016 league title have struggled for the top spots in the Premier League standings and often attended Europe. Heights that the Toffees have not reached despite trying, going so far as to enlist one of the best coaches around such as Carlo Ancelotti.

The reality the two clubs are living today is completely different, with both teams having been living with the risk of relegation to the Championship for months. Tonight’s direct clash, scheduled to take place at the King Power Stadium, is a classic in-or-out match, a “disguised” playoff between the third-last and the penultimate, separated by only one point. As of today, in fact, both Leicester and Everton would be relegated to the lower division: fortunately for them, the standings are still very short in the lower reaches, but time and opportunities to move up the ladder are starting to run out. The Foxes have one more point and by winning they would leapfrog Nottingham Forest and Leeds in one fell swoop, moving out of the red zone. The same applies to the Toffees, unable to come out of a decidedly complicated moment. In their last four matches, Sean Dyche’s men have barely managed a draw and a week ago they were overwhelmed by Newcastle at Goodison Park (1-4).

Everton disastrous on the road

And the schedule does not bode well: Everton will play three away games, with the exception of the challenge with Manchester City, which has just returned to the top of the table.

And away, this year, for the Toffees is synonymous with defeat. Or a draw, since out of 16 games played away from home they have drawn seven, lost eight and won only one. As for Leicester, however, the cure of Dean Smith, the former Aston Villa and Norwich coach who arrived a few weeks ago to replace the exonerated Rodgers, would seem to be working. After a long string of negative results, the Foxes picked up four points against Wolverhampton (2-1) and Leeds (1-1). The attack continues to score consistently-no one on the left side of the table has scored more goals-but at the same time the defense has not remained unbeaten in as many as eighteen games, collecting 57 total goals.

The Prediction

Leicester has shown some important signs since Smith’s arrival and is a slight favorite in this direct clash that promises to be tense. The Foxes will take advantage of the home factor against a team that struggles on the road like Everton. The total goals could be at least two.

The likely lineups for Leicester-Everton

  • LEICESTER (4-3-3): Iversen; Castagne, Faes, Soyuncu, Kristiansen; Tielemans, Soumaré, Maddison; Tete, Daka, Barnes.
