Leeds-Tottenham is a match valid for the thirty-eighth day of the Premier League and is played Sunday at 17:30: TV, predictions
Leeds for a salvation that, as things stand, would be miraculous. Tottenham, on the other hand, to avoid being left out of everything by snatching qualification for the next Conference League in extremis. Not the goal dreamt of at the start of the season by Spurs, who started with far more ambitious objectives, but nothing more than a way to make ‘sweeter’ a year in which the Londoners have disappointed on practically all fronts.
Let’s start by saying that Kane and co. are not masters of their own destiny. In the last four days they have suffered three defeats (Liverpool, Aston Villa and Brentford) and only managed to get the better of Crystal Palace. The team seems to have pulled the oars in the boat and not even the ferryman Ryan Mason – who took the place of the exonerated Conte and Stellini – has been able to reverse the course. The lacklustre performance in recent weeks has allowed Unai Emery’s Aston Villa to overtake them in seventh place, and in the event of a victory against Brighton – already assured of sixth place in the Europa League qualification – there would be nothing left for Tottenham to do. Brentford, who are one point behind Spurs, are also back in the game, but the Bees would only have a say if the Londoners and Villans both lose.
As for Leeds, on the other hand, Sam Allardyce’s men look doomed. Fresh from seven defeats in their last nine matches, the Whites are tied with Leicester in second-last place but, compared to their rivals – Everton, who are two points ahead of them, are also in the fight for safety – they face a much more complicated match. Mind you, even victory might not be enough if Everton (also ahead on goal difference) avoid defeat against an already safe Bournemouth.
The Prediction
This Tottenham are certainly not scary: in the last few days Spurs have continued to disappoint but above all to concede many goals. It will be a very prolific game, with at least three goals in total, and Leeds will be attacking almost exclusively as they wait for good news from Goodison Park.
