Greece-England, Nations League: free streaming, likely lineups, prediction

by Lea

Greece-England is a match of the fifth day of the Nations League group stage and is played on Thursday at 8:45 pm: free streaming, probable formations, prediction.

The task of “ferryman” Lee Carsley is almost over. The interim coach of the English selection will sit on the bench for the last two Nations League matches (Greece and Ireland) before handing over the baton to Thomas Tuchel, who will officially become England’s selector (third “foreigner” ever) from next January 1. First, however, the former Under-21 leader will have to recapture that A League from which the Three Lions incredibly relegated in the previous edition, effectively plummeting to the “B Series” of this event.

The risk of not finishing first and having to play the playoff with one of the third-place finishers from League A remains very high in any case. At the moment, the absurd defeat suffered last October against Greece at Wembley (1-2) makes all the difference, which is why the match scheduled in Athens is a kind of last resort for the English, who are forced to win – and to do so possibly by a wide margin – in order to regain the top spot, now occupied by the Hellenes. Surprisingly, in fact, the representative team led by Serbian coach Ivan Jovanovic is on a full score after four matches: a flawless journey that of Bakasetas and his teammates, who in the first four matches have scored nine goals (never less than two in the space of 90 minutes) while conceding only one.

Excluding the defeat to Greece, however, the Three Lions also left no chance for the other national teams: two comfortable victories with Finland, beaten both in the first leg and in the return, and a success (complete with a clean sheet) in the opener against their “cousins” Ireland. Carsley has summoned Harwood-Bellis and Hall for the first time, but the defections of the big boys are several: Rice, Saka, Foden, Grealish and Alexander-Arnold will not be there.

The Prediction

It will be a storming England that will show up in Greece, determined to win the three points to take back the first place. There are grounds to see a prolific contest, in which the Hellenes should also score on at least one occasion.
