Getafe-Almeria is a match of the 31st day of La Liga and is played Wednesday at 7:30 pm: lineups, predictions, TV and streaming.
In the backwaters, the La Liga standings always remain very short and there are several teams in danger of plummeting to the Segunda Division.
From Celta Vigo on down no one can sleep soundly in this final rush, all the more so after Valencia’s victory. Also part of the group are Getafe and Almeria, who in the midweek round will face each other in what looks like a real salvation playoff. Respectively 16th and 17th, both are currently out of the red zone, with Getafe ahead by just a pasting. Almeria, on the other hand, has 30 points, the same as third-last-place Valencia, but if La Liga ended today they would be certain to stay in the top flight because of their advantage in direct clashes. It’s not summer yet but high temperatures are equally looming at the “Alfonso Perez” Coliseum in a classic inside-out match. The situation is delicate at home to Getafe, a team that has failed to win for four days. After the break for national teams, the Azulones have not recovered, racking up only two points out of 12 available.
High temperatures at the Coliseum
Quique Sanchez Flores’ men have a lot to regret after suffering a painful comeback at home to Mallorca last Saturday: the game had gone downhill after about 20 minutes thanks to a goal by former Roma player Borja Mayoral, but in the second half the islanders ramped up with Raillo and South Korean Kang-In Lee (double).
A complicated weekend for Almeria as well, beaten 2-1 at home by Athletic Bilbao: the Basques had already secured it after the first 50 minutes, and the goal scored by Centelles in full recovery only served to make the morsel less bitter. For Rubi’s Andalusians, it was the second defeat in a row after the one at the Metropolitano with Atletico Madrid. The only absentee in Getafe is Arambarri, out now for two months. Almeria, on the other hand, will have to do without former Milan player Rodrigo Ely, disqualified, and El Bilal Touré.
The Prediction
Sensitive direct match between two teams that are in danger of relegation. There are in any case the preconditions for a positive result for Getafe: in front of their own public the Azulones have not lost in five games and face a lineup that has never won on the road, doing even worse than the tail-end Elche.
