Last weekend Feyenoord took a break from the league, having to face NEC in the final of the Dutch Cup, scheduled right at De Kuip in Rotterdam. Slot and his men will therefore try to keep the flame of hope burning by going for a win at home to a team that is in the thick of the race for a place in the next European cups. The GA Eagles are eighth, a position that would allow them to take part in the Conference League qualifying playoffs, in a mini-tournament that will feature sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth. Rene Hake’s team, however, has won only 2 games since March, and two weeks ago it cashed in on a painful defeat in its head-to-head clash with Utrecht.

In the league, Feyenoord has not lost since last December, when it surrendered to PSV itself. And during 2024 the only defeat (although not in regulation time) came on penalties against Roma in the Europa League. It is almost impossible to catch up with the leaders again, but Slot’s men will do anything to stay in the race. A win for them is likely in a match that promises goals, at least three total.
