Fulham-Wolverhampton, Premier League: odds, predictions

by Sabrina

Fulham-Wolverhampton is a match valid for the twenty-fifth day of the Premier League and is played on Friday at 21:00: TV, formations, predictions.

The two consecutive victories of Fulham, a team that never ceases to amaze. After a blank draw in the derby with Chelsea, the Cottagers first won the FA Cup replay against Sunderland – they will play Leeds in next week’s quarter-final – and then beat Nottingham Forest and Brighton in order, both with unbeaten goals.

The London team is therefore confirmed as the great surprise of this Premier League: from newly-promoted, with the main objective of shaking off the label of “yo-yo” team – in England they call in this way those clubs that are constantly shuttling between the top division and the lower division – the Cottagers in February find themselves only four points away from the Champions League zone, above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. It is a project, that of the Bianconeri, which starts from afar and has its roots in the amazing ride of last season. Marco Silva, the Portuguese coach, fresh from contrasting experiences on the benches of Watford and Everton, is reaping the fruits of hard work. And, at this rate, he could become the first coach to bring Fulham back to Europe in over a decade.

Fulham now dreaming of Europe

In their last three league games the Cottagers may not have excelled offensively – against Brighton they even had to do without their goal scorer Mitrovic – but they have kept their goal unbroken for 270 minutes. So the defence is working, and facing Fulham is no easy task, as evidenced by the fact that their only defeats in 2023 (against Newcastle and Tottenham) came by a narrow 1-0 margin.

Having a championship like that was in Wolverhampton’s initial plans, but something went wrong and the black-and-golds find themselves in 15th place, not far from the relegation zone. Julen Lopetegui, the former Sevilla coach who took over in the autumn, is trying to put things right, but there is no shortage of lapses on the Wolves’ part: last Saturday they lost to a direct competitor such as Bournemouth after having won two important victories against Liverpool and Southampton.

The Prediction

Wolverhampton had given some important signals after the double win against Liverpool and Southampton but the defeat against Bournemouth has again raised some doubts against them. Wolves travel to one of the toughest grounds in the Premier League at the moment, against a solid and confident team that is conceding very few goals. Fulham slightly favoured inside a match of less than four goals in total.
