Lorenzo Pellegrini seems reborn after Mourinho’s exoneration: now the midfielder can be a great asset for the national team.
Former Parma and Roma fullback Alberto Di Chiara spoke to the microphones of TvPlay to talk about his football past and De Rossi’s excellent results so far on the Roma bench. The former player also dwelt on the performance of Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has always been decisive since Jose Mourinho’s departure.
Di Chiara first wanted to recall his relationship with Eriksson. “That Roma-Lecce match in 1986 was something incredible. Lecce was already relegated but managed to pull off a feat. Roma’s coach was Eriksson, whom two years later I had in Florence. He told me that after that game he had lost his hair. I had two great coaches, Liedholm and Eriksson.” And Eriksson, according to Di Chiara, is the one who formed him both as a player and as a man.”
“De Rossi embodies Roman-ness,” the interviewee continued, “it was hoped that he would be able to shake things up. He made it clear that in soccer we don’t invent anything, he got into the players’ heads. The results have helped him, the team has gained more confidence, and now everyone is performing at their best. Dybala himself has become a big player again. Beyond tactical ideas, De Rossi has given the right mentality to the players, despite finding a very difficult situation. The team is all with him.”
According to Di Chiara, all of Roma is enjoying a favorable psychological situation. And the best example is Lorenzo Pellegrini: the player who seems to have benefited most from De Rossi’s arrival.
Pellegrini lifted by De Rossi: “Another player without Mourinho “
For the former Parma man, Pellegrini suffered too much from Mourinho, perhaps in a technical sense. Or he couldn’t handle his personality. “De Rossi recompacted an environment that was falling apart in the latter stages of the Mourinho management. Now Pellegrini is a different player,” the interviewee clarified.
“Fiorentina’s situation is very peculiar, similar to six years ago when Astori died,” Di Chiara followed. “On that occasion Pioli was very good at keeping the team together by making them react on the field. Italiano has to recompose the team even if he is leaving in June. It would be nice if Fiorentina could win a trophy and to dedicate it to Barone.”
“The misfortune of Barone’s death must not affect the compactness of the team. With Barone Fiorentina had started an important path, it will have to readjust the company but I believe that between now and the end of the season the Viola will be able to take important satisfactions.”
The interviewee concluded his remarks by talking about Parma. “This is the best year of the American management of Parma. The team is doing very well under Pecchia and I believe it will have no problem returning to Serie A. Perugia with Gaucci was a protagonist in Serie A for many years, but now they are struggling. I hope the Umbrians can also relive leading seasons. “
