Fognini, live outrage: everyone saw it, unworthy spectacle

by Mark

Fognini, what he did was a real outrage: unforgivable mistake, everyone saw it.

It is a common belief that life change often and often comes through a change of look. And this desire for novelty affects, in most cases, the hair. Someone gives it a cut, someone else totally messes up its shape and volume. Then there are those who, like Fabio Fognini, in the grip of a real headache – in the literal sense of the word – switch from brown to platinum with extreme nonchalance.

Although questionable, Fognini’s new hair color coincided with a total makeover. Outer, but also “inner.” The one who has trod the European stages in recent weeks is a champion in high spirits, who has regained his smile and the strength to hold his own against opponents who are younger and, at least theoretically, stronger than him.

He has always been strong, but age may no longer be on his side. Yet in spite of his 37 years of age, Fabio seems to be in top form again. He treated himself to an extra-luxury debut at the All England Club by taking out, in 3 sets, a talent almost half his age. He beat, that is, Luca Van Assche, who is 20 years old and who has been coached, for the past few months, by Vincenzo Santopadre, the coach who brought Matteo Berrettini to the sixth spot in the world ranking.

Unpitying Fognini: he mocked him in front of everyone

That platinum blond head seems to have given him back the confidence he’s been lacking for a while, in short. As well as the smile, indispensable in sports as in life.

And how much fun he is having at Wimbledon is evidenced, in case we needed it, by a video that has been circulating in recent hours on social media. During the lunch break of Day 2, Fognini mocked one of his colleagues live on social. The ill-fated was the Japanese Tarō Daniel, who was caught in the act while enjoying, in the All England Club’s dehors, a nice plate of fusilli with tomato sauce. And so far there would be nothing strange, except that, in doing so, he committed a real outrage.

He ate by serving himself not with a fork but with chopsticks, as he was accustomed to “pinching” food with hashi as is done in his homeland. Just as, for that matter, Europeans use forks to eat sushi at oriental restaurants. The scene gave the star performer Fognini the cue for a social skit, in which he is seen mocking, feigned indignation, poor Daniel, who did not yet know, perhaps, that that moment would be fed to social media.
