Everton-West Ham is a match valid for the eighth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 15:15: predictions, TV, streaming
If this was supposed to be the year of redemption, the one that was supposed to erase last season’s tribulation, Everton are not off to a flying start. After six matches the Toffees have still not tasted the sweet taste of victory, settling for a paltry haul of four draws and two defeats. And the relegation zone is just a stone’s throw away, with only Nottingham Forest and Leicester doing worse than Frank Lampard’s men. But the former Chelsea captain can also see the glass half full. Yes, because Everton, despite missing the appointment with the success, hasn’t lost since four rounds and last 3rd September they were able to stop their bitter rivals Liverpool in the derby played at Goodison Park, which ended in a scoreless draw.
Another virtue of Pickford and his team-mates is the non-possession phase: they have only conceded six goals, unusual numbers for a team struggling in that position, a sign that it is not easy to pierce their defence. West Ham, who strangely have the same points in the table as Everton, will try, inevitable after that disastrous start. The Hammers started with three defeats in a row and their first win came on matchday four at home to Aston Villa. Then a point in the derbies with Tottenham (1-1) and Chelsea (2-1), confirming that the double commitment is beginning to make itself felt. Indeed, David Moyes’ men, who are also involved in the Conference League, have played three more games than those teams not participating in the cups. On the European pitch, however, West Ham have been a force to be reckoned with so far: four wins from four and never less than three goals scored.
The Prediction
Everton, especially when playing at home, have always looked very solid despite not playing very well. There is a good chance, in our opinion, that the Toffees will win at least a point against a West Ham side that seems to suffer too much from the double commitment. Both teams should score at Goodison Park.
