Everton-Bournemouth is a match valid for the thirty-eighth day of the Premier League and is played on Sunday at 5:30pm: TV, predictions.
One of the few matches on the final day of the 2022-23 Premier League where something important is at stake. Eyes are almost entirely on Goodison Park and Everton, who, like last year, could clinch salvation on the line.
After the usual season of misery, Liverpool’s historic club will be assured of continuing in the top flight if they win against Bournemouth: the Toffees, fourth bottom on 33 points, are masters of their own destiny, unlike rivals Leicester and Leeds, who would both be relegated to the Championship if Sean Dyche’s men get the better of the Cherries. A draw or even a defeat would complicate matters, at which point Everton would have to hope for a non-win for the Whites and Foxes, who are up against Tottenham and West Ham respectively. If the match at Goodison Park ends in a draw, even if Leeds win (and Leicester fail to win) Everton would be safe, but on goal difference: provided, of course, that the Whites don’t win by three goals or more.
Dyche’s side are fresh from a 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton, while on the previous day they had surrendered 3-0 to Manchester City. Bournemouth, on the other hand, have been in the Championship for some time, having been saved ahead of schedule. The Cherries now give the impression of being on holiday, as evidenced by the three defeats in a row.
The Prediction
Everton, despite the absence of striker Calvert-Lewin – Patterson, Vinagre, Coleman and Godfrey will also be missing – should be able to get a positive result against a Bournemouth side who have little to say now that they have secured safety. However, the Cherries are also likely to score at least one goal.
