One of the clearest successes a week ago was that achieved by the Norwegians of Molde over Silkeborg. The 3-1 thrashing by Erling Moe’s men against the Danish outfit is tantamount to a kind of mortgage on qualification for the third round of the Europa League, the penultimate preliminary round before the single group stage (the continent’s second-largest competition is also preparing for a real revolution).
The fact that the Eliteserien, Norway’s top league, is in full swing ended up making a difference: Molde certainly stronger and on the ball than Silkeborg, but even in Denmark they might struggle to keep their goal unbroken, since the hosts will necessarily have to attack to try to overturn the result. Braga and Trabzonspor did not disappoint expectations, getting the better 2-0 over two within reach opponents such as Maccabi Petach Tikva and Ruzomberok, both defeated 2-0: the Portuguese will take no chances against the Israelis-there is a good chance they will record another clean sheet-while the Slovaks could give the Turks a run for their money. In Scotland, Cercle Brugge did not go beyond a draw against Kilmarnock (1-1), which forces the Belgians to win the return match by any scoreline: victory within reach but watch out for the Scottish club’s pride.

For Panathinaikos, it wasn’t a walk in the park against Botev Plovdiv, and the 2-1 first leg doesn’t allow the Greeks to sleep soundly in Bulgaria, in another match of at least three goals total.
The magical moment of the Romanians of Corvinul Hunedoara continues, able to stop even the Croatians of Rijeka in front of their own public (0-0): their “fairy tale,” however, should end in Croatia, where Zeljko Sopic’s men will likely get the better of the formation that plays in the Romanian cadet division.
