Empoli-Juventus, Serie A: tv, streaming, likely lineups, prediction

by Martin

Empoli-Juventus is a match valid for the fourth day of Serie A and is played Saturday at 6 p.m.: stats, news, likely lineups, prediction, live TV, streaming.

Revolved like a sock by technical director Cristiano Giuntoli in the last market session, Juventus is one of the teams that arouses the most curiosity in this Serie A. The Bianconeri have changed a lot and reinforced themselves a bit in all departments, but the biggest novelty concerns the coach: former Bologna coach Thiago Motta has almost diametrically opposed ideas to those of his predecessor Allegri, and this was already guessed after the Old Lady’s first outings.

An intriguing and ambitious project that, in any case, needs time. It is not surprising, then, that Juventus on the last day before the break in the first real test against Roma (0-0) failed to confirm the good things they had shown in the challenges against Como and Verona, both annihilated 3-0.

With the Capitolini, the Bianconeri defended well – the goal is still inviolate after three days – but struggled in the opponent’s half of the field, getting to shoot only once on goal. In the Empoli away match we will understand if Motta, during the two-week break for national team commitments, has made it to file down these flaws. The match against the Azzurri also seems to be a good test for a Juve still a work in progress: Roberto D’Aversa’s team got off to the best possible start, going undefeated against Monza, Bologna and Roma, the latter even beaten at home (1-2). Five points after three rounds of the championship undoubtedly represent a good haul for a club that must aim to save itself as soon as possible.

Empoli-Juventus: latest lineup news

In the Empoli house, the unavailable Zurkowski, Ebuehi and Perisan have been joined by Fazzini. D’Aversa therefore ponders advancing Gyasi on the three-quarter alongside ex-Roma Solbakken and behind the only forward Colombo. In the middle is a ballot between Grassi and Maleh, who is not likely to end up on the bench instead is Scotland’s Henderson. Immediately on the field is former duty player De Sciglio, who arrived in Empoli in the last days of the market just from Juve.

It will not be a Juve too dissimilar from the one we saw at work against Roma. Motta will line up Koopmeiners for the first time from 1′ and on either side of the former Atalantino will act Cambiaso and Yildiz. From the bench Nico Gonzalez is ready: the Argentine had been injured with the national team but immediately recovered, scoring a goal in the match with Colombia. Absent is the injured Conceiçao (the Lusitanian will be out for at least 2 weeks).

The Prediction

Excluding the Empoli victory in May 2023, Juventus has won six of the last seven previous matches played in Empoli. The script of the match is easy to guess: the Bianconeri will try to be masters of the game and the Azzurri will try to hurt with restarts. The fact that D’Aversa’s team can play this match without much pressure could make things difficult for the Old Lady, who is still favored for the 3 points. It cannot be ruled out that Di Gregorio’s goal will once again remain inviolate.
