Earthquake in the national team, the broadside coming to Luciano Spalletti is resounding. Here are the words that leave no room for comment
The national team is back, gathering ahead of upcoming Nations League commitments. And the Azzurri must try to quickly forget a European Championship that started with a victory, the only one, against Albania, and ended very badly after the match against Switzerland that eliminated us. A challenge that Italy practically never played, taken down by a formation that at least on paper was not stronger.
There has also been much discussion about what Luciano Spalletti’s position on the Azzurri bench might be. The possibility of an arrival of Massimiliano Allegri – who seems destined for Benfica – or some other coach was discussed. Luciano remained in place, convinced that he can still give a lot and supported by Federal President Gabriele Gravina. The summonses are back in all this, for what must by necessity be a new azzurro course. But on the names not everyone agrees, it must be said.

Explaining his thoughts, which go against Spalletti’s choices, was Graziano Carugi Campi. Who, on X, wrote this, “There are at least four summoned to the national team who do not deserve to be summoned. Hard to understand the dynamics, but it is not necessary: when asked, Spalletti would freak out as his usual. I’ve lost count of the years that no one pays for mistakes in the national team anyway.”
A direct attack without any veil to what have been the choices of the technical commissioner. The sports commentator (among other things in his life) does not mention the names of those who would not deserve this convocation, but goes straight against Spalletti. In short, it does not start in the best way the “new” Azzurri adventure that, let us remember, must also win the pass for the next World Cup scheduled for 2026. Which then as we know is that really the most important goal: it would be dramatic, further, not to be able to go there.
