Djokovic-Alcaraz, Paris 2024 tennis Olympics final: schedule, TV, streaming, prediction

by Thorsten

Djokovic-Alcaraz is the final of the Paris 2024 Olympic tennis tournament: news, statistics, prediction, live free-to-air TV and streaming.

As was the case in the last Wimbledon, there were no surprises in the Olympic tennis tournament either, and contending for the coveted gold medal will be the heavily favored Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, world number two and number three respectively. The seventh meeting between the Serb and the Spaniard will be staged in Paris; Alcaraz got the better of the match in London a month ago, scrambling the Belgrade native, who has just returned from meniscus surgery, in three sets. On red, however, the record is tied. The Iberian came out on top in the first head-to-head in Madrid, in 2022. Djokovic took the rematch right back in Paris a year later.

The gap seems to have widened in recent months, due to physical problems affecting the 24-time Slam champion, on court with a conspicuous bandage on his operated knee. However, for Djokovic this Olympics means so much. Gold at the Olympic Games is the only title missing from his trophy case, and in the French capital he will probably have the only chance to win it, since his springs are now 37. Despite the aches and pains, Djokovic has managed to win in 2 sets all five matches played so far, even the more complicated ones with Tsitsipas and Musetti, matches in which the psychological factor was decisive.

Neither has Alcaraz conceded anything, although there has been no shortage of ups and downs (see the challenge with Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals). The talented El Palmar has been living a state of grace for months now and the Olympics would be the icing on the cake of a fantastic cycle, marked by triumphs at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

Djokovic-Alcaraz: the prediction

Djokovic is willing to pour out even the last drop of sweat to win the gold medal but the feeling is that against this Alcaraz will be able to do little. The fact that Nole is not 100% and is still feeling pain – as he himself admitted – makes us assume a victory of the Spaniard in two sets. Nothing different, in short, from what happened a month ago at Wimbledon.
